Flatten and Tone your Tummy

The Pelvicore Technique not only strengthens your pelvic floor muscles, it can also help flatten and tone your stomach too. The abdominals are part of your core muscles and play an important part in maintaining core strength and control. The 20 minute pelvic floor conditioning programme will enable you to train all the abdominal muscles through a variety of exercises and positions. You can tone your tummy by repeatedly contracting, holding and relaxing the abdominal muscles. While you are doing the pelvic floor muscle training, you will notice that during the harder contractions, your tummy will be pulling inwards naturally. This is good because you are training the deep abdominal muscles at the same time.

Please note that strengtening the muscles will not reduce the fat on your tummy, as there is no such thing as "spot reduction". To reduce fatty tissue you need to reduce your energy intake or increase your general physical acitivy level. The most effective way to reduce fat is to do regular aerobic execise e.g. fast walking, jogging, bicycling, aerobic dancing, step training. Another important factor that influences the shape of the tummy is your body posture. (this you can work on by simply straightening up and using the inner abdominal muscles, as you will learn from this DVD!) Constipation is another factor, and can be avoided by eating more fibre. Also, doing regular exercise in an upright position may help. With age, the connective tissue holding your abdominals flat will weaken. All you can do to compensate for this is to work with your posture and strengthen the abdominal muscles!

You can tone your tummy through a variety of positions by following me in the Pelvicore Technique DVD. If you are looking to reduce abdominal fat, you will need to increase the amount of aerobic training and daily physical activity you do and/or reduce your calorie intake. These exercises are specially designed to strengthen muscle rather than burn fat.
